ExperienceAs the older brother of 3 siblings, sister as a freshman at UCLA, another sister as a 6th grader, and a brother in 4rd grade, I've learned to be patient with kids of all different ages and also teach them what is necessary in their curriculum. I love working with kids, and seeing their progress in school. I've also had the opportunity to tutor some of my siblings' peers, as my own siblings have recommended me to their friends. In high school, I was hired as an assistant coach for my swim team to help develop our younger team between the grades of 6th-8th. This experience helped to strengthen my capacity in dealing with kids of different ages and different backgrounds to teach them discipline and help them to achieve a goal, while having fun with them.
Although tutoring math is my preference, I also have strengths in subjects such as Java, Physics, and general K-8 education. I received a 770 out of 800 on my Math subject test and scored a 5 out of 5 on the AP Calculus AB exam as a Junior in high school. I also completed multivariable Calculus as a senior in high school, putting me ahead of many students in math when I came to college.
HobbiesAs I have mentioned before, I am the oldest of 4 children. I love working with kids and spending time with my siblings. My passions outside of academia are swimming and basketball. I was a serious athlete in high school, pursuing swimming on the high school team for Varsity 4 years and playing club basketball.

Easy to talk to and work with. Gave my son lots of help in the limited time that he was given and was also very respectful.
Joseph is currently tutoring Java for my 10th grade daughter. He is easy to work with and my daughter also thinks it's easy to ask him questions. He is good at explaining and always makes sure she understands what he is trying to say. I strongly recommend Joseph as a tutor.
Joseph has been helping our 8th grader with Java programming for a number of sessions now. Our son had some Python and Java experience previously but had not learned higher level CS concepts or done programming outside of a "camp" experience. He looks forward to every visit. They are working on a large multi-week project which gives him a chance to do real debugging and learn concepts like linked lists and inheritance. In between the weekly sessions Joseph gives homework and makes himself available for questions over email. It is really exciting to see our son challenged in this way, outside the classroom, and to work collaboratively with a professional like Joseph. Joseph is the perfect match for our son.
Joseph does an amazing job tutoring my daughter. After only two lessons, my daughter improved her test score by 2 letter grades! I strongly recommend Joseph!
Joe tutored my son in pre-calculus. He is a great guy and is very thorough, easy to work with, dependable and knowledgeable.
