#### Education

Queens College, City University of New York - BA, Computer Science#### Experience

I received my bachelor's degree in computer science from Queens College, City University of New York. I am certified to teach mathematics by the state of California, and I have considerable experience tutoring high school students in math.My minor in college was math, and it has always been one of my favorite subjects. I tutor several math courses, including middle school math, pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry. These are my favorite courses to tutor, because I see them as the foundations upon which future mathematical understanding will occur. What I find most rewarding as a tutor is the moment students transition from struggling with a concept to understanding it for the first time. This is especially true for those students who were resistant to the concept of tutoring initially. When their confidence in their own academic aptitude and their overall motivation to succeed in class improves, I feel as though I've had a major victory. My teaching style is based upon the Socratic method. This simply means that I question each student in order to lead them to solve the problems on their own, as opposed to simply giving them the answer. I believe the key to a successful tutoring experience is maintaining high expectations for myself as well as for my students. During my free time, I enjoy cooking, hiking, cooking, swimming, music, traveling, gardening, playing games, and volunteer work.#### Hobbies
